What Can I Do

Things that help register your opinion and have it be heard.

1. Write to your Commissioner

The Commissioners constantly hear from and monitor public opinion on a host of issues. They will appreciate hearing your opinion on this issue.

We have included a suggested letter to help with the letter writing process. Use the attached letter as a template only. Put everything in your words and tell the recipient how you feel about the proposed project in a respectful and clear manner. Remember we are opposed to the project, not the people who serve as Commissioners.

As a part of preparing your letter we recommend spending some time researching the issues. We have provided a number of links to web sites that explain Marc, the Marc Transportation Planning Process, Johnson County Transportation Planning, and highway planning in general. Spend some time gathering information before you write. You may find something new that the Commissioners would like to know.

3. Write Letters to the Editor.

The Kansas City Star and all other Johnson County Newspapers publish 'Letters to the Editor', Public Opinion, and Op Ed articles. Write your opinion and send it to any of the local media.

4. Attend weekly Board of Commissioner Meetings

The Commissioners meet every Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. in Olathe. Attend the meetings and let them know that you oppose the proposed roadway.

5. Volunteer to help the 'Coalition'

The Coalition has numerous volunteer activities available. We need people to conduct a wide variety of activities-placing signs, attending meetings, emailing, direct mail processing, and many others. Volunteer to help by sending an email from the join/donate/petition link on the home page. We will contact you and help guide your efforts.
